Cendol
On a hot day, if you come across a crowd standing around a food hawker stall under the blazing sun by the road side, they are likely to be enjoying a bowl of Teochew Cendol or Ice Kacang, both desserts made with ice shavings. The perfect way to cool down.
While Ice Kacang is sweetened with syrup and evaporated milk, Cendol on the other hand is sweetened with palm sugar and creamy coconut milk. The toppings for Cendol is a little less adventurous but no less tasty. They consist of boiled red beans, soft green bean flour noodles, jelly like in texture and flavoured with natural pandan essence.
These cendol and ice kacang stalls also sell other cold beverages.
