Lion Dance teams from different parts of the world will be coming to Penang in August to compete with each other in this adrenaline pumping International Lion Dance on Stilts Competition.

It’s nerve wrecking even as a spectator in watching how each team maneuver and jump on stilts while maintaining their balance, carrying the lion head and sometimes their partner.

Each move is executed with precision and mistakes if any just adds to the excitement of the show.

Malaysia International Lion Dance on Stilts Competition

An action packed and exhilarating competition with teams from all over Malaysia, Vietnam, China, and more battle it out for the championship title with the most creative and original lion dance performance.

An annual lion dance competition organized by the Penang State Tourism Development and Tiong Hua Sports and Cultural Association in Kepala Batas, the Malaysia International Lion Dance on Stilts Competition sees competitors from Malaysia, Vietnam China and many other countries.

Witness a power charged and action packed show in a battle to be the best with creative and original stunts from the different teams, vying for the championship title.

While it is usually performed during Chinese New Year, it is now recognized as one of the National Heritage of Malaysia.
