Penang on New York Times
The New York Times published an online photo slideshow featuring Penang with the ever so appropriate title, “Hidden Treasures in Penang”.
The collection of photographs features the following places, not so hidden for some of us but we do tend to take it for granted:
- Penang Hill
- Penang Forest Reserve, Teluk Bahang
- Khoo Kongsi, the Khoo Clan Temple for a bit of culture and heritage
- China House, restored and refurbished town houses in the city
- Breakfast at Aik Hoe for Pau (steamed buns) & Dim Sum
- Goddess of Mercy Temple
- Masjid Kapitan
- Nazlina Spice Station
- Chowrasta Market (mistaken for Chow Kit in the gallery)
- Armenian Street for more culture and heritage
- Studio at Straits art gallery
- Diners at International Hotel (that’s typical Kopi Tiam to us)
- Campbell House boutique hotel
- Sri Mahamariamman Temple on Queen Street
- Sign maker at Queen Street
- Town Hall building on the Esplanade opposite Fort Cornwallis
- Miami Beach
- and one just can’t escape the mention of Street Foot
